My Name is Tiarr (Tee-Arr)

I am a birth doula serving the Twin Cities Metro area. I was a gender studies major in college but wasn't quite sure in what capacity I would work with women until I experienced pregnancy and birth for myself. I believe in the power of a woman's body, I believe in her ability, as her body instinctively works through labor, to birth her baby. I do not feel that birth is a medical event, that being said I do feel that there is a time and a place for medical intervention. The birth of your child is a memory that stays with you and I feel that every mother (and partner) can and should have a positive birth experience/memory. It is so rewarding to help facilitate that experience and be a part of the birth of a family. I support informed women through all types of birth: vaginal, cesarean, medicated, un-medicated, in the hospital or at home, low and high risk mamas, and everything in between.
I am a DONA trained birth doula. I have attended the Lamaze childbirth education series, and I can assist in establishing healthy breastfeeding practices. I am an active member of the Childbirth Collective, a great resource for birthing families in the Metro area.
I currently live in SW Minneapolis with my partner, Chris and our son Merrik, who was born on 7/27/12. We are dog lovers/rescuers, local music supporters and enjoy traveling both inside our lovely state of MN and also beyond, we utilize out Netflix account often but try to be outdoors if we can. Grilling in the backyard with a bonfire and beer encapsulates our casual lifestyle. I am laid back but very passionate about birth and a woman's right to choose how and where she wants to birth.
